eMuseum Licensing Options

Gallery Systems offers three levels of eMuseum licenses, designed to meet varying degrees of flexibility, adaptability and access to collection information.  All three levels of licenses permit modification to the HTML, XSL, CSS files and database scripts.

Standard License
The Standard License is designed for institutions that only need to publish information from two “modules”.  A module is a grouping of information such as “objects” or “people”.

Benefits of the Standard License:

  • Configurable keyword and advanced search options allow visitors to search on criteria that is appropriate to your collection
  • Links between different module records provide easy navigation between related records
  • Controlled publication of digital media assets linked to records ensures that the public only sees media with appropriate copyrights
  • Special groupings of items showcase collections grouped by department, classification, or other administrative user criteria
  • Common web display options including light box, text list and single-record detail views offer a variety of ways to explore works in the collection
  • Powerful client-side reports, driven by Crystal Reports, with export to PDF, RTF or DOC formats allow users to generate print outs of object information and images
  • Password-controlled, access-level security gives you the option to allow or prohibit data for search and display. So you can expose your entire collection on an Intranet, but only present a small portion on your public website.

Extension License
The Extension License includes all of the features of the Standard License and has the added flexibility of unlimited “profiles”.  A profile is a template that is coupled with a module and defines how the published data will be shown.  For example, an object module may have two profiles: a public view and an internal view.

Developer License
The Developer License is designed for institutions that want total flexibility. With the Developer License, there is no limit to the number of modules you can display.  In addition, you can create any number of profiles to provide different views of data within each module.

Benefits of the Developer License:

  • All of the features available in the Standard and Extension License levels
  • Ability to publish data from multiple modules such as object, bibliography and exhibition records
  • Permission to modify the ASP code that drives the business logic of an eMuseum site

NOTE: The Developer License does not provide access to the source code of the compiled eMuseum components.
