Announcing the Return of Gallery Systems’ Premier Collections Management Conference

Collective Imagination 2021 is happening! After postponing in 2020, we’re excited to bring our collections management conference back to help you grow your knowledge, learn from your incredible network of peers, and share a few laughs with attendees from all over the world.

From November 15 to 19, 2021, Collective Imagination 2021 will take place at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Washington, D.C. This iconic American city is home to over 75 museums, including many Gallery Systems clients. Let’s walk through what else awaits you at Collective Imagination 2021.

To hold a safe conference, Gallery Systems will be running CI 2021 in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as local and state protocols. We are monitoring COVID-19 developments. If the public health situation changes, we will modify our plans to best ensure everyone’s safety.

The Venue and Its Surroundings

Located in the heart of DuPont Circle, the Royal Sonesta Hotel is an art-themed boutique hotel that’s within an easy distance to the museums you may want to visit. The neighborhood is rich with great restaurants, coffee shops (we like Philz Coffee), and plenty of cultural institutions to fuel your drive for collections and connections with your colleagues.

Hear from attendees on why they love coming to Collective Imagination and what keeps them coming back:

“It was my first time at Collective Imagination, so simply meeting Gallery Systems staff and other TMS users was very helpful for me, particularly talking to other Registrars from institutions of a comparable size, and picking up advice.”
Philip Roe, Registrar, The Hugh Lane Gallery

“I enjoyed meeting other TMS users from around the world and realizing they had answers to questions we have had for quite some time, and vice versa. I thought the whole setting was very nice, and I was able to learn a wide variety of things.”

Kelli Hostettler Thomas, Collections Specialist, Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University

“The CI conferences are the single most useful conference I attend. I learn a variety of practical things, and find that brainstorming and sharing ideas with other attendees is truly priceless.”

David DeBono Schafer, Senior Collections Manager, Peabody Museum, Harvard University
“At Collective Imagination everyone was so friendly and warm, including Gallery Systems staff. The Solutions-to-Go meets were incredibly helpful.”
Micayla Grey, Museum Assistant, Bicycle Museum of America

“I enjoyed, as always, hearing all of the interesting ways that institutions use TMS. It gives me a lot of motivation to try new things in our own database!”

Robin Craren, Curatorial Research Assistant, The Barnes Foundation
