Collections Trust Annual Conference
London, UK | September 22, 2015

The Collections Trust Annual Conference will take place at the Natural History Museum in London, England, on September 22nd. It’s a chance to network with other cultural professionals and learn the latest in industry trends, while taking in an impressive natural history museum that is home to 80 million specimens spanning 4.5 billion years. In addition, delegates are invited to attend the Collections Trust Awards reception.

Conference speakers include:

• Dr. Nick Merriman, Director, Manchester Museum and Collections Trust Chair, who will examine the need for new strategies to facilitate collecting at museums of all types, and the importance of viewing collecting as a necessity, not a luxury.

• Alex Dawson, Programmes Manager: Standards, Collections Trust, who will explore the development and future of SPECTRUM. Alex will also host a session that will begin a sector-wide consultation for SPECTRUM 5.0. Join the open discussion on considerations for the next version of the standard.

• Mark Pajak, Digital Manager, Bristol Museums Galleries and Archives, who will “be illustrating how Bristol Museums are taking a user focused approach to improving object cataloguing workflows.”

• Rupert Shepherd, Documentation Manager, Horniman Museum & Gardens, who argues that even in the face of funding cuts, streamlining procedures and data will help the resiliency of museums and allow them to deliver the programs that are expected.
