Join Gallery Systems at the 43rd annual American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) conference, and be part of the largest gathering of conservators in the US. AIC offers an important opportunity to learn and discuss the latest ideas in managing complex restoration projects, preservation methods, and exhibition needs.

This year, the conference will be held in Miami, Florida at the Hyatt Regency, May 13 through 16.

Conference Highlights:

Tours

  • A pre-conference, all-day tour on May 12 takes you to Sarasota’s crown jewel, and a Gallery Systems’ client, The Ringling Museum. Here you will have a behind-the-scenes look at their conservation labs and storage areas, as well as visit the art museum and circus museum. You’ll even tour Ca’ d’Zan, the dazzling, palatial home of Mr. and Mrs. John Ringling.
  • On May 12, a tour is also scheduled to The Perez Art Museum (PAMM) located in downtown Miami’s famous Museum Park. A special tour of the storage areas will be given by Senior Registrar Naomi Patterson, and the museum’s chief curator will give you a tour of the collection.
  • On May 13, visit the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. You’ll enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at this stunning villa in the heart of Miami, and hear about their ongoing conservation work from Vizcaya conservator, Lauren Hall.

Workshops

  • On May 13, enjoy a host of workshops, including Airbrushing for Conservators, Laser Cleaning of Surfaces, and Artifacts and Architecture, to name just a few.
